EnerisCARE Initiative Selected for Implementation under IFC JUST TRANSITION ACCELERATOR
A new program, EnerisCARE, is being launched to provide free preventive healthcare services to more than 400 employees working in Poland’s most polluted regions. The initiative, developed in cooperation with IFC as part of the global Just Transition Accelerator, aims to enable early detection of diseases and promote health education in areas particularly affected by smog
Eneris Group has announced the launch of the EnerisCARE program, which will offer free preventive healthcare to employees in four regions of Poland identified in the 2023 National Air Quality Assessment Report, prepared by the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection (GIOŚ), as having the country’s highest levels of air pollution. Covering over 400 participants, the program will begin in 2025 and will be implemented in the following locations: Upper Silesia and Małopolska (Siemianowice, Balin, Jaworzno, Skawina), Lower Silesia (Jaroszów, Wrocław), the central region (Tomaszów, Rawa Mazowiecka, Zgierz), and the northern region (Bydgoszcz).
According to the report “Map of Social Attitudes Towards Air Pollution in Poland”, prepared by the CMPK on the basis of research conducted in June 2025, smog is responsible for the premature deaths of around 40,000 Poles every year. Air quality—especially in heavily industrialized regions where Eneris operates— remains one of the key health risk factors for both employees and local communities.
EnerisCARE has been developed as part of the global Just Transition Accelerator, led by the IFC (International Finance Corporation), a member of the World Bank Group. The program includes preventive examinations, blood tests, and on-site medical consultations, supporting the early detection of cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and respiratory illnesses. Educational activities promoting awareness will also form an integral part of the initiative.
Access to preventive healthcare in Poland continues to be hindered by long waiting lists, referral requirements, and a limited number of medical facilities. To address these barriers, Eneris—already providing private healthcare coverage to employees—is introducing EnerisCARE to further strengthen its commitment to employee wellbeing.
The program will be implemented in partnership with uPacjenta and is expected to gradually expand to additional locations in the coming years.
“The EnerisCARE program is a strategic response to one of Poland’s major civilizational challenges—the high level of air pollution and its direct health consequences,” said Renata Sienkiewicz, HR Director and Management Board Member of Eneris Group.
Eneris Group is a leader in the waste management sector, serving more than 1.4 million residents across over 100 municipalities in Poland, with operations spanning waste collection, recycling of diverse waste streams, and recovery of raw materials and energy.
