Reselekt becomes the fifth authorized deposit system operator in Poland
Eneris, a leader in waste management and recycling, is pleased to announce a significant achievement by its Polish subsidiary, Reselekt S.A. In November, the Polish Minister of Climate and Environment officially granted Reselekt S.A. a license to operate the Deposit Return System (DRS). According to this decision, Reselekt has become the fifth authorized operator in Poland, marking a crucial step toward implementing a modern and efficient packaging waste management system.
– The decision by the Minister of Climate and Environment is a great honor and a proof to our expertise in recycling and waste management. We are excited to invite all interested parties, including smaller businesses, to collaborate with us. Together, we can build an effective system that serves as a model of sustainable waste management in Europe – said Agata Juzyk, CEO of Reselekt S.A.
The Deposit Return System in Poland aims to increase recycling rates and reduce municipal waste. The system involves charging a deposit on beverage containers, which can be refunded when empty containers are returned. According to current regulations, the system will cover:
- plastic bottles up to 3 liters,
- reusable glass bottles up to 1.5 liters,
- metal cans up to 1 liter.
The Deposit Return System is set to start on October 1st, 2025, allowing time to prepare the necessary infrastructure and ensure the system operates effectively to meet its recycling goals. Large stores (over 200 m2) will be required to accept returned containers and refund deposits, while smaller retailers can voluntarily join the system.
The deposit Return System in Poland will be effective only if implemented in coordination with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Single-Use-Plastics (SUP), leveraging existing solutions and minimizing environmental impact. This approach will help create a modern, efficient, and eco-friendly recycling system – added CEO Agata Juzyk.
Eneris is proud to support the development of innovative solutions in Poland, confirming its commitment to building a sustainable future for the environment.
