Agreement of Five Deposit System Operators
All entities representing those holding permits to operate the deposit system, namely: OK Operator Kaucyjny S.A., “PolKa” Operator Systemu Kaucyjnego not for profit S.A., Krajowy System Kaucyjny Zwrotka S.A., EKO-OPERATOR S.A., and Reselekt S.A., signed an agreement on December 19, 2024, regarding the conditions for settling the collected and returned deposit and the settlement and exchange of packaging or packaging waste. The signing of the agreement stems from statutory requirements that oblige the representing entities to establish rules for the coexistence of deposit systems in Poland.
To ensure the safety and efficiency of the deposit systems’ operation, it is crucial to develop common standards and principles of cooperation. The parties to the agreement committed to working on establishing rules for the operation of a central system for managing packaging data, standards for automatic and manual collection, reverse logistics, the operation of counting centers, and detailed settlement mechanisms between the representing entities.
One of the goals stated in the agreement is to establish an organization that guarantees the effective cooperation of deposit systems. This organization will serve an umbrella function, defining rules to ensure the safety and equal treatment of all stakeholders in the system.
To ensure the effective implementation and operation of deposit systems in Poland, the operators declare further cooperation and open dialogue with the Minister of Climate and Environment, relevant public institutions, and other representing entities.
